At just 320 square feet, this shipping container home in Fredericksburg, Texas, manages to fit a full kitchen, private bedroom, bathroom, living room, and dining area into a compact single-level layout.
But what really makes this tiny home stand out is everything outside. A wraparound deck, private hot tub, multiple seating areas, and a roughly 160-square-foot rooftop deck dramatically expand the usable living space and make the home feel much larger than its footprint.
We stayed here for two nights at ParcBlu in the Texas Hill Country and loved how well the indoor and outdoor spaces worked together. At the end of the article, there is a video walkthrough tour of this incredible shipping container home, as well as booking information!

Before stepping inside, there is already a surprising amount of usable living space around the container.
The wraparound deck includes a dining table for four, a smaller seating area for two, grill, shade sail, and private hot tub.
Large glass doors connect the deck directly to the living room, making the outdoor areas feel like an extension of the interior rather than a completely separate space.

The kitchen is compact but equipped well enough for much more than a weekend stay.
There's an apartment-size refrigerator, two-burner induction cooktop, deep sink, quartz countertops, open shelving, a microwave, a dishwasher, and plenty of cabinetry.
A small dining table for two sits nearby, creating a dedicated place to eat without sacrificing much floor space.

The living area makes particularly good use of the container's narrow footprint.
A built-in sofa runs along one wall with three storage drawers underneath, while a leather accent chair and wall-mounted TV complete the space.
One of our favorite design details is the original shipping container cargo doors. Instead of removing them completely, the centers were replaced with glass, creating oversized full-light doors that bring in tons of natural light and open directly onto the deck and hot tub.

A sliding barn door opens into the bathroom, which includes a tiled shower, vanity, large mirror, traditional flushing toilet, and additional storage.
The finishes make it feel much more residential than you might expect inside a converted shipping container.

A pocket door separates the bedroom from the rest of the home.
There's room for a bed with nightstands on both sides, plus a small built-in closet for hanging clothes.
The window coverings can also be adjusted from either direction, allowing you to bring in natural light while maintaining privacy—especially useful in a bedroom this compact.

A spiral staircase outside leads to one of the home's best features: a rooftop deck measuring roughly 160 square feet.
It doesn't span the entire container, but there's still plenty of room for lounge chairs or a small seating area.
For full-time living, this extra space could effectively function as another outdoor room—whether that's for morning coffee, reading, entertaining, or simply enjoying the Hill Country views.

This shipping container is located at ParcBlu, a container cabin resort in Fredericksburg, Texas.
In addition to the home's private hot tub and decks, guests have access to a communal swimming pool, pickleball, bocce ball, fire pits, and other shared outdoor spaces.
We especially liked that you could spend plenty of time at the property itself instead of treating the cabin as simply a place to sleep between trips into Fredericksburg.

After spending two nights here, this is one of those tiny-home layouts that we could genuinely see working well beyond a short-term stay.
The private bedroom, full kitchen, proper bathroom, built-in storage, and ground-level layout cover most of the essentials for everyday living. The biggest advantage, though, is how much additional space you gain outside.
Between the wraparound deck and rooftop terrace, you effectively have multiple extra living and dining areas without increasing the conditioned footprint of the home.
For one person or a couple—especially somewhere with a mild climate—this kind of indoor-outdoor layout could make 320 square feet feel surprisingly practical for full-time living.
